Awesome Ross, you know with my business that's the same thing that happens. They say you gain weight when you get married, but I've always been very active. But after I got married I started my web development business, and was sitting in front of a computer eating junk and drinking energy drinks galore. I went from a size 31inch waist and 145lbs to who knows and 180lbs. I'm ashamed, cause none of my pants fit right now. Only a few pairs of shorts. So fair I've lost 10lbs, but I need to go another 10 before I can fit my pants again. GRRR. Also, check this, I built a standing desk, this way I'm not sitting. I read a fitness article that talked about how incredibly bad it is to sit all day, and how your body burns almost zero calories sitting. I can't say that standing has helped me loose weight, because I've been standing for two months, but I bet will most likely help me maintain my weight lose afterwards.

Mike, that all sounds wicked. I'm doing the same thing right now. I've always been pretty active but wanted to step it up a notch and really get fit and strong and it's going well but I could definitely push it. I'm also trying the no caffeine thing. It's been almost 2 weeks and it's still tough. Hard part is that it's a habit of sitting at the computer and working. I feel like I need to drink coffee. When I'm not near the computer I don't think about it.

I think we should do some messaging back and forth to keep each other motivated. Much easier if someone else is in it for the long haul as well.

Good luck!

That's awesome Leah! YES, you know in one of my other blog posts I talked about Quixtar and the whole leadership team thing, well I kind of miss that. But I have just recently gotten plugged into a Mastermind Group, I'll probably write about that shortly as a follow up to this, but it's so important to surround yourself with people who are going in the same direction as you. It really helps. Just like you said.

And if you're surrounded by people going nowhere, chances are you aren't going anywhere either.

That's one of the problems I had, I've been working since I started my business to change my associations. I've really distanced myself from all of my old friends, and really can only say I have my wife and 2 guy friends Troy and Will right now. But that's because I want to plug in with the right people.

Sometimes you need a "group" to help you self motivate. I've had a similar issue you did, I kept declaring that I would get into shape give up bad foods etc. I'd do it for a week or two or three and then I'd fall off the horse. I think I was ashamed to admit that I just had so much going on it was easy for some things (like my health) to fall by the wayside.

I found the right trainer, who teaches a class (That unfortunately has to be at 4:30 am) but she's amazing and keeps me self motivating to get up every morning and go to her class. And the people there are so supportive it's not your typical class where everyone has a pole up there butt and won't talk with anyone. Everyone is friends to some degree and the welcome you in when you are new.

Now I'm self motivating to get up in the morning, but it is the group that holds me somewhat accountable, and it is the energy put forth by my trainer Erin that is the third and most important hidden ingredient. She's dedicated to me, so need to be dedicated to myself.

You know, the environment is what really makes MLM's so attractive. That's all I was ever attracted to. I've recently found that in my own mastermind group.

Nice article Mike. As a woman I think it would be nice if someone marketed cheap porn featuring very unattractive women. Something that wives would not be as threatened by. (Meant as a joke and as a honest idea!) Also, every couple should cut down on porn by installing a large mirror on the cieling over their bed. Good subdued lighting that provides all the visuals but gives cover for our blemishes, stretch marks, ect. would help as well. Porn is not going away - let's get creative and diminish the need for it and the harm it can do.

wow... love the story... very compelling. MLM is a tough industry. I think it is addicting, and can pull people away from their reality. There is some "comfort" being part of an MLM even though one is not making any money.

I still want to believe that there is the "perfect MLM" with a great product, affordable, with great leadership and training.

It does not exist. It is a dream. But I still have a glimmer of hope. Not in any MLM now.. but still vulnerable.. lol :)

Thanks again!
