Crush It! Free Book Giveaway
Posted on 08. Feb, 2010 by Mike Key in Contest
My new favorite person online is Gary Vay-ner-chuk. Gary is the author of Crush It!: Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion, which is now both a New York Times and a Wall Street Journal Best Seller. This is an amazing book and it motivated me in a lot of ways. I also purchased the vook.com version of this book, which I think you might want to check out too, it has a lot of added video extras.
So I’ve decided to give away a 3 copies of this book over 3 weeks starting today February 8th, 2010. I will pick one winner each Friday of each week. One on the 12th, the 19th and the 26th.
Here is how the contest will work, you MUST (not on or the other, both) do the following two steps in order to qualify:
- Update your status with the following Tweet: Hey @mike_key, I’m cashing in on my passion and I want a free copy of #CrushIt by @garyvee! Please RT! http://bit.ly/bGzyDU
- Post a comment below detailing what you think your DNA is, as Gary says “Who are you, based solely on the fact that you popped out of mom?… What are your 4-7 characteristics strictly based on your D.N.A.?”
Follow me on Twitter or Join the Facebook Community or come back to this page to see if you’ve won! Winners will be announced via my blog, twitter and Facebook, just an FYI.
*If you win, once I contact you, you have two days to reply to me before I pick another winner on the following Monday. Your free book will be drop shipped to you from Amazon.com =)
Announcing our winners! 2 More Books Left

Hey Mike! Love the contest idea, love your enthusiasm and your positive energy! (And I’d love a free copy of Crush It!) Plus we share a lot of the same characteristics.
I am an Adventurer – I’ve traveled around the world sailing, diving, bungy jumping, skydiving and trekking.
I am a Dreamer – But I know that it’s more than dreaming it’s doing so that also means
I am a Do-er – When I put my mind to something, I formulate a plan and go after it
I am a Teacher – I like to help other people learn and grow.
I am empathetic – I try to put myself in other people’s shoes all the time to understand their point of view and what they are going through.
I am Values Driven – I believe in a set of values that includes integrity, willingness to learn, creativity, personal responsibility, and an intense work ethic. And I seek out people with similar values.
Okay that’s 6!

Hey Mike!
I’ve seen your tweets retweeted by common acquaintances (such as Leah and Sonya) numerous times so I decided to check out your blog. Good stuff! Funny (who doesn’t chuckle at Fatties don’t climb mountains?). This was actually the first time I’ve heard of Gary Vaynerchuck as well (you can imagine the googling that went into finding out who this guy is and why his book is awesome enough to give it away). Easy link for those reading this: http://tv.winelibrary.com I’m sold! I’d love to read book and have a copy of it. Here’s mine:
1)I’m an adventurer- I love trying new things and going to new places
2)I’m a learner- Similar to adventurer, I love to learn new things and master new skills. Why just “learn something new everyday” when you can learn 5 or 10 new things in a day?
3)I’m a teacher- I have a knack for explaining things to someone in a way they can understand…and if they don’t understand the first time, I keep going until I find a way to explain it.
4)I’m a perfectionist
5) I’m a nerd- I can’t help it. Math, Science, Spanish, Ancient cultures and stories really get me interested and excited.
6) I’m a ponderer- I love to think outside the box. To think about how things interact and work together. To think. Dream up new solutions or ideas on what can be done and how we can solve problems.
7)I’m an optimist! Half empty or Half full? Pshhhh. Overflowing. There’s enough water in that cup to quench my thirst and share!

I am an apple nerd, I love everything and anything technology
I am a musician – I was born with a good ear for music, am always listening, and always singing.
I am an artist. Ever since I was little, I was interested in patterns. Now my outlet for that is photography.
I am a dreamer. I used to just be a dreamer, but now I am working towards my actions.
I am a traveler. My family loves to travel all over the world, and my BEST memories come from that. So, I am working towards location independence.
Hope that helps Mike Key! I really like your site, as you already know. It was fun to list my favorite things in life

Mike – I don’t need a copy of the book as I already own it, but I LOVE it!! I’ve been lending my copy out to friends for months. But I love this concept of yours, so I’m going to play along anyway
I’m a nomad – I have trouble staying in one place in this world
I’m an entrepreneur
I’m a sharer and teacher (although if you asked my Mum, she’d probably disagree on the ‘sharer’ bit)
I’m an early adopter – have to have the newest everything!
I’m a socializer
I’m a connector
Great blog, post, competition
Keep it up – and let’s CRUSH IT!

How fun! Found you via Sonya who is pretty awesome by the way. Hmmmm who am I really based on my DNA? I’m still trying to figure it all out to tell you the truth!!
I’m athletic and naturally good at things
I’m also cursed with a short attention span which coupled with the above trait allows me to get really good at things really fast … and then get bored of it just as quickly (jack of all trades master of none – it’s a painful existence)
I’m naturally introverted but against all programming i’m learning to socialize (on the internet haha)
I like thinking A LOT but hate things that I can’t act upon. I’d rather try something Make a mistake and then fix it than not try.
I’m learning to dream BIG.
I think anything’s possible (and often underestimate the amount of work that goes into things)
I was born pretty great but got bored so I want to be better!

I am an artist – graphic designer and photographer
I am a mother – my son keeps me on my toes and keeps me learning to keep up with him
I am a quick learner – I enjoy learning new things and pick up things quickly (which helps with the above statement)
I am good with finances – I am not a penny pincher, but I know how to make the right choices
I am a dreamer – I dream of one day rocking on my porch and looking at the beach, lake, mountains… just some beautiful peaceful place
And I would LOVE to have a copy of Crush It!

I am more complex than I’d like to be!
I hesitate a lot!
My God, I have a lot of issues, haha. Mike, great way to give back. Too bad I bought the book 3 weeks ago and finished it in 4 days
I think this book, Toilet Paper Entrepreneur, and 4 Hour Work Week are just superb.

Hey Mike! I've been hearing nothing but amazing things about Crush It, and it's probably the swift kick-in-the-pants I need to get cash in on my passions.
I am stubborn. Seriously. All of the women in my family are the most strong-willed you will ever meet. (This is obviously both good and bad!)
I am a life-a-holic. I can literally get "drunk" from the incredible experiences and people I've been fortunate to meet in life, and I'm happy I'm still young enough to keep that ball rolling.
I am maternal. Not a mom, though. I'm the friend that doesn't stop worrying and looking out for my friends and what matters to them.
I am curious. (I'm not even going to tell you how many electronics I destroyed as a kid just to figure out how they work!)
I am a bookworm. Got this lovely trait from my mom, too… I think it goes with the whole curiosity thing. Words are my weakness, it's true.
I am creative. Whether through words, music or some form of art, I can and will express myself louder than any kind of self-description… beginning to think I could have built you a college that does this question better justice!
I am a neat-freak. There's a certain security in big-to-small organization and vacuum lines on the carpet that I just can't find anywhere else.
Can Crush It help me channel these things into a greater good? Let's hope so! I feel all random and exposed now. Proceeding to amazon.com to seek shelter in book titles now
