The Gospel is Offensive
Being offensive is the highest form of cultural sin. That’s bad news for us Christians because the gospel is offensive.
I want to make this clear, it is the Gospel that is supposed to be offensive, not us. The Bible clearly tells us of its offensiveness 1 Peter 2:8, Galatians 5:11, and Romans 9:33. But why?
The gospel informs people, amongst other things, the following…
- You are a sinner by nature and choice. (Romans 3:10-18)
- You are under the wrath of an almighty God. (Romans 1:18 ; Romans 2:5)
- You can’t fix yourself. (Ephesians 2:8-10)
- Your best efforts to do good are more stinky than a pile of poo and filthy menstual rags.
- You cannot know God via any other means or religions outside of Christ, everything else is damnable. (John 14:6)
Just Say No to GoDaddy
If you haven’t heard, the questionable web host known as GoDaddy is supporting SOPA. A terrible bill to pretty much ruin the internet. (Update 1: So they’ve withdrawn their support, a little too late in the game if you ask me.)
Add to this their terrible customer service, endless emails and up sales and a laundry list of other complaints, I’m pulling all 23 of my domains from GoDaddy before the start of the new year. I’ve decided after reading a few articles over on Lifehacker to switch to NameCheap.com, who is offering a discount right now using the code “SOPASucks” to get domain name transfers for $6.99.
Besides the fact that SOPA is a terrible bill in congress right now, GoDaddy’s service has been TERRIBLE for the last couple of years now. I’m personally tired of the endless up sales at check out, the poor customer support, and their prices aren’t even cheap anymore.
I’d also recommend you check out this guide from Lifehacker if you are interested in jumping ship. How to Jump Ship from GoDaddy
(Update 2: Gizmodo is reporting that GoDaddy is purposefully delaying the transfer of domains. I started transfers on the 23rd and they still haven’t moved to NameCheap yet.)
How a Man Should Propose
Today’s post is a guest post from my good friend, Joe Baker.
I am writing to the single woman out there.
Men please hear my thoughts and pay close attention.
I was searching youtube tonight looking at marriage proposals online. I can’t believe how many horrible proposals that I had to sit through to get to a seldom few good ones. After seeing so many worthless proposals I have come to the conclusion that our fatherless jackass generation has bread a slew of uncreative, pathetic, gimps who think marriage is all about themselves. And the worst part of it is that all the girls said yes. What the heck is going on? Ladies you deserve more! Way more!
Ladies, getting married is the largest decision of your life! You will have to look at that guy for 80 years, so make sure you say yes to a guy that loves your heart and who has a larger vision for your lives than watching football this Sunday. Continue Reading…
Getting Back Into the Grove of Writing
When I started this blog, I thought I knew what I wanted to write about. Productivity, Entrepreneurship, Finances, Lifestyle Design…. But that wasn’t me being myself. It as me trying to be someone else. Sure, I’ve got a lot of passion for mens’ leadership and self improvement. But lifestyle designer, not really a fit. My writing style is generally… how I feel. I type what I feel. I express myself based on what I’m thinking at a given moment.
Seems like at the start of 2010 I was writing about 1 article every week. But that quickly dropped off at the end of March. Since March 30th I’ve posted 4 new blog updates. If you want advice on how not to grow your blog, posting four blog articles over an eight month period probably isn’t a good idea.
Part of the reason for not posting is trying to write about things that aren’t purely on my heart. I was trying to write about things I wanted to be interested about. the other half has been my business. I’ve been full time freelance web design/web developer this year. It’s been exciting, but it’s also been time consuming.
During this time some other idea’s for writing have crossed my mind, such as my A Mans Journey; a blog concept about the journey of self improvement which I’m working on putting together and kicking off Jan 1st 2011. I’d like to write more on my business blog about my thoughts about web design and development. But I haven’t posted on MK3Y.com since……. who knows??
So really, what’s the reason behind having a personal blog? Maybe just to ramble about what interests me. I’ve had this since since 2004 and it’s gone through a few different iterations, and it’s about to go thru one more.
I’m turning this site more into a personal thought bin on the world. You want to know about me, here is where you will find it.
Besides, if you believe all the social media snake oil, then controlling your online reputation should be important. So why not make it interesting?
So with that, one of the things I hope to do here, is get myself back into the creative spirit. Back into the groove of writing. I love to write. But I haven’t been practicing my writing. And really, to become a good writer, you’ve got to write a lot of crap to get to the real jewels. So that’s my intent with my personal blog.
Looks like there is road-work ahead.
