You Have to Make It Happen

We’ve got a real problem in this country with people and what they believe. No I’m NOT talking politics. We’ve bread a culture that believes things should be handed to them, that they no longer have to work hard for success, but that it should be handed to them.

This is a wrong way of thinking; one that needs to change. If you want something, you’re going to have to go out and make it happen.

I’m learning this first hand. For years I talked about business and being successful. In reality I was waiting for success to land in my lap. I was hoping it would be handed to me with the least effort possible, and in turn my first couple of businesses were mediocre. I applied the least amount of effort to everything I did.

And then one day a light bulb went off.

I’ve found a lot of success already, because I’m pouring blood, sweat and tears into making it happen. I’m getting out there and hitting the pavement, shaking hands, staying up late working on projects, making phone calls, doing follow ups, going to networking events, building my following on twitter, keeping up with it on facebook, etc. I’m putting in the work, not just sitting back and hoping it will come to me. I stay up late and fry my eyes with two 24inch computer screens, doing favors, hoping for some return. I’m taking a huge risk on all of this right now. But with risk, comes great rewards. If this thing is going to happen, I’m going to make it happen.

Now, here’s the deal. We all know this principle. So why are so many of you waiting around for success to land in your lap? Equally, why are so many of you thinking that you should be handed that next big promotion without doing any work?

If you want something, you’re going to have to pursue it. You’re going to have to bleed out of your eyeballs to make it happen. You’re going to have to be relentless in some cases. You’re friends will probably think you are crazy. Forget them. Your friends are probably losers anyways. Stop dreaming pie in the sky and start making the pie. (Does that even make sense?) You’ll probably have to get outside your comfort zone for starters.

My wife wants to buy a Hummer. A freaking Hummer in this economy! And guess what, she’s going to drive a freaking Hummer because WE ARE GOING TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Only one way that is going to happen. Not by me sitting around hoping to get lucky, but by me getting out there and MAKING IT HAPPEN.

Stop waiting for lady luck, get up off your ass and MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Word of the wise, there are NO SHORT CUTS to SUCCESS. So avoid the MLM’s.

Amen! I always say that you work harder for yourself than you would for any employer, because the opportunities are limitless. I believe that if we just do well for others, success will follow for us. Even in hard times, this principle works for me.

Do what you love and the money will follow, because you will be the best at it.

    Hey Mike,

I definitely agree. Growing up with a dad who’s a doctor, I had a comfortable life. I was led to believe the same would happen to me if I got my education.

It just doesn’t work that way, unless you want to become a drone.

Does she reallllly want a Hummer? That thing will be a gas hog. I drive my little Nissan Sentra and am happy with it, but at some point I’d like a full-sized Sedan or something like a Rav. As long as the brakes work… haha.

Good to see you in the swing of things!

Great blog post …. What I consider the “Walmarting of America” … we expect falling prices and things to just fall in our laps …. sustainable growth doesn’t happen that way! “You have to go out and make it happen. Well put Mike!

So very true. I think that most of my life I hoped to get lucky with something. I dreamed big but that was all I did. I didn’t do anything about it. Over the last couple of years, I’ve changed my way of thinking. I am out there making things happen. Attempting to start companies, make it as an actress, become a real estate tycoon… the list goes on and on. Thanks for an inspiring post.

Very True man, good stuff! I shake my head at people when I hear ‘It’s gonna happen’ when I don’t see them doing anything about it. Oh that’s frustrating to hear from someone like that.

People just get lazy that’s what it comes down to. Most just don’t wanna involve themselves into the amount of work it takes to make a business grow but it also takes time. Life is too short, might as well hit the ground running HARD.

Look at all the hype about Manifestation, attraction & courses on how to attract anything. Its now wonder we sit back & expect it
to all happen. Mostly the course givers make all the money. The concept of manifestation & attraction is mainly based on quantum physics, which is possibly true but takes a super individual to actually make anything happen. The “elbow grease” method is slowly being forgotten & this , I believe makes more happen then anything.

Um, the law of attraction is bunk. It’s like Christians who believe they can “speak” things into existence. That’s twisting God’s word.

The law of attraction is not based on Quantum mechanics. It’s based on sud-science and pure mobo jumbo. Someone who doesn’t understand Quantum entanglement took their limited understanding of it, and tried to apply it as a way to justify that nonsense. And I believe the movie “The Secret” is the biggest pusher of this nonsense.

Quantum entanglement does not mean you attract things to you. Complete BS and non-science.
